In this lecture, Father Justin leads us through Part One of The Spirit of the Liturgy, beginning with a brief biography of its author, Joseph Ratzinger. Ratzinger seeks to uncover, in these opening chapters, the essence of the liturgy – what really happens when Christians gather for worship beyond what is merely visible. The Cardinal uses the authority of Scripture to show how the liturgy involves all of reality (its cosmic dimension) as it embraces all of time (its historic dimension).
