In Part Two of The Spirit of the Liturgy, Cardinal Ratzinger discusses how the eternal liturgy that encompasses all creation and history is celebrated within time and space. Here emerge the theological significance of the church building, the altar, and the direction or orientation of the Church’s liturgical prayer.
