I loved your thoughts about speaking with intention. Excellent essay. But unfortunately since I am a professor I must correct your usage. "The rules of grammar, I think, ought to be flouted" is what you meant I believe? Sorry to be a pedant. But I am. I love this website.

Fr. Brendan, this essay gives me something about which to talk about with my fellow colleagues and students. It also provides much to contemplate - MacIntyre's After Virtue, grammar rules, the writing I do for my own classes. I won't say more in this comment box because that would be non-intentional speech! However, I will leave this quote here since we are talking about grammar:
